Treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and lymphoblastic lymphoma in pediatric and adult patients aged 1 month and older who have hypersensitivity reactions to E. coli-derived asparaginase products.

As a form of L-asparaginase, it works by depleting the amino acid asparagine from the blood. Leukemia and lymphoma cells have a high demand for asparagine and cannot synthesize it themselves, making them dependent on external sources; without asparagine, these cancer cells cannot survive and proliferate.

Administered via intramuscular or subcutaneous injection, typically on an alternating schedule with other chemotherapy agents. Requires monitoring for allergic reactions, pancreatitis, hyperglycemia, and coagulation abnormalities. Should not be used in patients with serious hypersensitivity to Erwinia-derived asparaginase products or a history of serious pancreatitis, serious thrombosis, or serious hemorrhagic events with prior asparaginase therapy.
