Treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) to delay disease progression and reduce the need for hospitalization. It may be used alone or in combination with other PAH therapies.

Selexipag is a prostacyclin receptor agonist that is hydrolyzed by carboxylesterase 1 to produce its active metabolite. The active metabolite activates IP receptors, causing relaxation of pulmonary vascular smooth muscle, which leads to vasodilation and reduced pulmonary vascular resistance.
