Sevoflurane
Sevoflurane is a volatile inhalation anesthetic used to induce and maintain general anesthesia during surgical procedures. It acts on the central nervous system to produce a reversible state of unconsciousness and immobility. It is commonly used in both adult and pediatric patients due to its rapid onset, smooth induction, and relatively quick recovery profile.

Sevoflurane is indicated for induction and maintenance of general anesthesia in adults and children undergoing surgical procedures. It is commonly used in both inpatient and outpatient settings due to its favorable properties for smooth, rapid anesthesia induction and recovery.
Sevoflurane is a fluorinated methyl isopropyl ether that works by depressing central nervous system function. It enhances GABA receptor activity and inhibits NMDA glutamate receptors, resulting in hypnosis, amnesia, immobility, and analgesia at higher concentrations.
Sevoflurane should only be administered by trained anesthesia providers in a controlled setting with appropriate monitoring. It may cause dose-dependent respiratory and cardiovascular depression. Patients with known hypersensitivity to halogenated anesthetics or history of malignant hyperthermia should avoid use. Liver function should be monitored as rare cases of hepatotoxicity have been reported.
