Used to stimulate gallbladder contraction for diagnostic imaging, assess gallbladder emptying function, and induce bile secretion during certain diagnostic or therapeutic procedures such as endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).

As a synthetic cholecystokinin analogue, sincalide binds to CCK receptors in the gallbladder smooth muscle, causing it to contract and release bile. It also stimulates pancreatic enzyme secretion.

Administered intravenously by healthcare professionals. May cause abdominal discomfort, cramping, or nausea. Contraindicated in patients with intestinal obstruction or acute pancreatitis. Should be used with caution in patients with known gallbladder disease.
