Stalevo is indicated for the treatment of Parkinson's disease and parkinsonism. It helps manage the motor symptoms including resting tremor, bradykinesia (slowness of movement), muscle rigidity, and postural instability.
Stalevo combines three agents: levodopa (which converts to dopamine in the brain to replace deficient neurotransmitters), carbidopa (which prevents peripheral conversion of levodopa, allowing more to reach the brain and reducing side effects like nausea), and entacapone (which inhibits COMT enzyme to extend levodopa's duration of action).
May cause drowsiness or sudden sleep episodes; avoid operating machinery. Can cause dark urine, sweat, or saliva. Inform your doctor of any history of glaucoma, heart conditions, or mental health disorders. Do not discontinue abruptly. May interact with other medications including antidepressants and blood pressure drugs.
