Stamaril is a live, attenuated (weakened) vaccine containing a modified strain of the yellow fever virus. It stimulates the immune system to produce protective antibodies against the virus, providing immunity without causing the actual disease in immunocompetent individuals.
Administered as a single subcutaneous injection at least 10 days before travel. International Certificate of Vaccination is valid for life as of 2016 (previously 10-year validity). Not recommended for immunocompromised individuals, pregnant women, or those with severe egg allergies. Common side effects may include soreness at injection site, headache, muscle pain, or mild fever.
