Tact is used to treat tinea pedis (athlete's foot), tinea cruris (jock itch), tinea corporis (ringworm), and cutaneous candidiasis. It may also be prescribed for pityriasis versicolor, a fungal infection affecting skin coloration.

Tact contains econazole nitrate, an azole antifungal agent that works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a critical component of fungal cell membranes. This disruption weakens the fungal cell wall, preventing the fungus from growing and spreading.

Apply a thin layer to the affected area and surrounding skin as directed by your healthcare provider, typically twice daily for 2-4 weeks. Avoid contact with eyes, nose, and mouth. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before using this medication. Complete the full course of treatment even if symptoms improve earlier.
