Treatment of metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in patients with EGFR mutations (exon 19 deletions or L858R mutations), including both treatment-naive patients and those previously treated with EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors who have developed the T790M resistance mutation.
As an EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor, Tagrisso works by blocking the activity of mutant EGFR proteins on cancer cells, inhibiting tumor growth and proliferation signals.
Requires confirmed EGFR mutation status prior to treatment initiation. Common side effects may include skin rash, diarrhea, and nail changes. Interstitial lung disease and QTc prolongation are serious but less common risks. Should be taken as prescribed, with or without food, and patients should avoid grapefruit juice during treatment.
