Taztia is indicated for the treatment of hypertension and chronic stable angina (classic effort-associated angina). It may be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents.

Taztia contains diltiazem, a calcium channel blocker that inhibits the movement of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle cells. This causes relaxation of vascular smooth muscle, leading to vasodilation and reduced peripheral resistance, which lowers blood pressure and reduces oxygen demand on the heart.

Taztia is an extended-release formulation that should be swallowed whole, not chewed or crushed. It should not be used in patients with certain cardiac conditions such as sick sinus syndrome or AV block without a pacemaker. Common side effects may include headache, dizziness, flushing, and edema. Patients should avoid grapefruit juice as it may increase diltiazem levels. Always follow your healthcare provider's dosing instructions and report any unusual symptoms.
