Tedizolid is indicated for the treatment of acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSI), including those caused by resistant organisms such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE).

Tedizolid works by binding to the 23S rRNA of the bacterial 50S ribosomal subunit, inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis and preventing bacterial growth. It is bacteriostatic against most organisms.

Tedizolid is generally well-tolerated but may cause side effects including nausea, headache, and diarrhea. Complete the full course of therapy as prescribed. It should be used only when susceptibility testing confirms the infection is susceptible to tedizolid. May interact with serotonergic medications; use with caution in patients on concurrent serotonergic agents.
