Telaprevir
Telaprevir is a direct-acting antiviral (DAA) medication that was used to treat chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, specifically genotype 1. It was always used as part of combination therapy with peginterferon alfa and ribavirin, and was typically prescribed for treatment-naive patients or those who had failed previous interferon-based therapy. Due to the development of more effective and better-tolerated direct-acting antivirals, telaprevir has been discontinued and is no longer available for clinical use.
Telaprevir is a hepatitis C protease inhibitor that was used in combination therapy for genotype 1 HCV but has been discontinued due to newer, more effective treatments.

Chronic hepatitis C genotype 1 infection in combination with peginterferon alfa and ribavirin for treatment-naive patients and prior non-responders. It was specifically indicated for compensated liver disease.
Telaprevir is a hepatitis C virus NS3-4A serine protease inhibitor. It binds reversibly to the HCV protease enzyme, blocking the cleavage of the viral polyprotein and preventing viral replication.
Telaprevir has been discontinued and is no longer available. Common side effects included rash, anemia, and gastrointestinal symptoms. It required strict dosing (every 7-9 hours with fat-containing meals) and was replaced by newer, more effective, and better-tolerated direct-acting antivirals. Always consult current clinical guidelines for HCV treatment recommendations.
