Treatment of testosterone deficiency in men caused by conditions affecting the testes (primary hypogonadism), pituitary gland (secondary hypogonadism), or hypothalamus. May also be used for adolescent males with delayed puberty and in certain gender-affirming hormone therapy protocols.
Small testosterone-containing pellets are surgically implanted beneath the skin, typically in the hip or buttock area. The pellets slowly dissolve over approximately 3-6 months, releasing testosterone steadily into the bloodstream to restore and maintain normal testosterone levels.
Requires a minor surgical procedure for insertion. Regular monitoring of testosterone blood levels and potential side effects is essential during treatment. Not appropriate for women, children, or men with certain cancers, severe heart disease, or uncontrolled sleep apnea. Should only be used when deficiency is confirmed by clinical symptoms and laboratory testing.
