Primary administration route
Standard route of administration for tetanus toxoid vaccine
Prevention of tetanus infection in children (as part of combination vaccines) and adults requiring primary immunization or booster doses. Indicated after clean minor wounds if more than 10 years since last dose, or for all wounds if more than 5 years since last dose.
Contains inactivated tetanus toxoid that stimulates the immune system to produce protective antibodies against Clostridium tetani toxin, providing active immunization against tetanus.
Should not be administered to individuals with known hypersensitivity to vaccine components. May cause local injection site reactions, fever, or mild systemic symptoms. Not effective once symptoms of tetanus have developed. Must be stored at 2-8°C and administered via intramuscular injection.
