Theo-24 is indicated for the prevention and symptomatic treatment of asthma, as well as for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other conditions involving reversible bronchospasm. It is used as a maintenance therapy rather than for acute symptom relief.

Theo-24 contains theophylline, a methylxanthine derivative that relaxes smooth muscles in the airways (bronchi), allowing them to widen and making breathing easier. It may also improve respiratory muscle function and reduce airway sensitivity to stimuli.

Theophylline has a narrow therapeutic index, meaning the difference between therapeutic and toxic doses is small. Regular blood monitoring may be required. Common side effects include nausea, headache, insomnia, and tachycardia. Patients should avoid exceeding prescribed doses and inform their doctor of all medications, as many drugs interact with theophylline.
