Treats relapsed or refractory B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in patients up to 25 years of age, and relapsed or refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) in adults.

A patient's T cells are collected and genetically engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) that targets the CD19 protein found on the surface of B cells. When reinfused, these modified cells identify and destroy cancer cells and normal B cells.

Administered as a single infusion at a certified treatment center. Serious side effects include cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and neurological toxicities. Patient's own cells are used (autologous), so treatment requires careful coordination and timing.
