Tofidence is a monoclonal antibody that binds to interleukin-6 (IL-6) receptors, blocking the pro-inflammatory signaling of IL-6. By inhibiting this pathway, it reduces inflammation and associated symptoms in autoimmune conditions.
As a biologic, Tofidence is typically administered by subcutaneous injection or intravenous infusion in clinical settings. It may increase the risk of serious infections, liver problems, and laboratory abnormalities. Patients should be monitored for signs of infection and have regular blood tests during treatment. Tofidence is a biosimilar to Actemra (tocilizumab).
