Tosymra is indicated for the acute treatment of migraine attacks with or without aura in adult patients. It is not used for migraine prevention and should not be used for cluster headaches or other types of headaches.
Tosymra contains sumatriptan, a selective serotonin receptor agonist (triptan). It works by binding to serotonin receptors in the brain, causing vasoconstriction of cranial blood vessels and reducing inflammation associated with migraine attacks.
Tosymra is available by prescription only and should not be used by patients with certain cardiovascular conditions, uncontrolled hypertension, or who are taking certain other medications. Common side effects may include taste disturbances, nasal discomfort, and dizziness. Patients should discuss their complete medical history with their healthcare provider before use.
