Toujeo is indicated for the treatment of diabetes mellitus in adults and children aged 6 years and older with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, to improve glycemic control.
Toujeo contains insulin glargine, a synthetic human insulin analog that provides a prolonged, steady release of insulin over approximately 24-36 hours, helping to lower blood sugar levels throughout the day when used as part of a comprehensive diabetes management plan.
Toujeo is not intended for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis. It should be administered subcutaneously once daily at the same time each day. Hypoglycemia is the most common side effect, and patients should be aware of signs of low blood sugar. Dose adjustments may be needed with changes in diet, physical activity, or illness.
