Truqap is used to treat hormone receptor-positive (HR+), HER2-negative locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer in adults who have progressed after prior endocrine therapy. It is used in combination with fulvestrant.

Truqap contains capivasertib, which inhibits AKT (protein kinase B), a key enzyme in the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway that cancer cells use for growth, survival, and proliferation.

Common side effects include rash, diarrhea, nausea, fatigue, and hyperglycemia. Truqap may cause serious adverse effects including severe skin reactions. Patients should be monitored for blood glucose and liver function. This medication should not be used during pregnancy. Dosage is typically 400mg taken intermittently (4 days on, 3 days off).
