Cobicistat
Tybost (cobicistat) is a pharmacokinetic enhancer used as a boosting agent in HIV treatment. It works by inhibiting certain enzymes that metabolize other HIV medications, allowing these drugs to remain active longer in the body at effective levels. It is prescribed alongside other antiretroviral agents for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults.
Tybost is an HIV medication booster that helps other antiretroviral drugs work more effectively by inhibiting their breakdown in the body.

Tybost is indicated for use in combination with other antiretroviral medications to treat HIV-1 infection in adults. It is typically co-administered with HIV protease inhibitors or integrase inhibitors that require boosting to achieve therapeutic drug levels.
Tybost inhibits the CYP3A enzyme family, which is responsible for metabolizing many antiretroviral drugs. By blocking this pathway, it increases blood concentrations of co-administered HIV medications, allowing for less frequent dosing and improved treatment efficacy.
Tybost is not an antiretroviral itself and must always be used with other HIV medications. It may interact with numerous drugs and should not be used with certain medications metabolized by CYP3A. Patients should be monitored for kidney function as cobicistat can affect serum creatinine measurements. This medication does not cure HIV or prevent its transmission.
