Tyenne is used to treat adults with moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis, giant cell arteritis, and chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell induced cytokine release syndrome. It may also be used for systemic or polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis in children.
Tyenne is an interleukin-6 (IL-6) receptor antagonist. It is a monoclonal antibody that binds to both soluble and membrane-bound IL-6 receptors, blocking the inflammatory signaling cascade that IL-6 would normally trigger, thereby reducing inflammation and associated symptoms.
Tyenne is administered by subcutaneous injection or intravenous infusion. Common side effects may include upper respiratory infections, headache, hypertension, and elevated liver enzymes. Patients should be monitored for serious infections, gastrointestinal perforations, and changes in blood counts. It may increase the risk of infections and should not be used in patients with active infections. As a biologic, it may have specific storage, handling, and administration requirements.
