Prevention of typhoid fever caused by Salmonella typhi. Recommended for travelers to endemic areas (South Asia, Southeast Asia, Africa), people in endemic regions, laboratory personnel working with S. typhi, and household contacts of carriers.

Contains purified Vi capsular polysaccharide antigen from Salmonella typhi Ty2 strain. The vaccine stimulates the immune system to produce IgG antibodies against the Vi antigen, which helps the body recognize and fight the bacteria if exposed. Immunity develops approximately 2 weeks after vaccination.

Administered as a single 0.5 mL intramuscular dose. Booster recommended every 2-3 years for continued protection. Not effective in children under 2 years of age. Common side effects include injection site reactions, headache, and mild fever. Does not provide complete protection; food and water precautions should still be observed. Contraindicated in individuals with severe allergic reactions to any vaccine component.
