Treatment of COVID-19 in adults and pediatric patients (12 years and older weighing at least 40 kg) who are hospitalized or have mild-to-moderate COVID-19 and are at high risk for progression to severe disease.

Veklury is a prodrug that converts to its active form inside cells. It acts as an adenosine triphosphate (ATP) analog and gets incorporated into the viral RNA chain during replication, causing premature termination and inhibiting further viral replication.

Administered via intravenous infusion, typically once daily for 3-10 days depending on clinical status. Common side effects may include nausea, elevated liver enzymes, and infusion reactions. Should be used with caution in patients with renal impairment. Requires medical supervision and monitoring during administration.
