Vonvendi is a recombinant von Willebrand factor (VWF) replacement therapy used to treat and control bleeding episodes in adults with von Willebrand disease (VWD), including the most common form (Type 1) as well as more severe types. It can also be used during surgery or other invasive procedures to help manage bleeding in these patients. This medication provides the missing clotting protein that patients with VWD lack, helping to restore normal blood clotting function.

Vonvendi is indicated for on-demand treatment and control of bleeding episodes in adults with von Willebrand disease. It is also used for perioperative management of surgical and/or invasive procedure-related bleeding in adults with VWD.

Vonvendi contains recombinant von Willebrand factor (rVWF), which replaces the deficient or defective VWF in patients with von Willebrand disease. VWF plays a critical role in blood clotting by facilitating platelet adhesion to injured blood vessel walls and by stabilizing factor VIII in the bloodstream.

Vonvendi is administered by intravenous infusion. It is a recombinant product (not derived from human plasma), which eliminates the risk of plasma-borne infections. Patients should be monitored for signs of allergic reactions or thrombotic events during treatment. Dosing is individualized based on the patient's weight, bleeding severity, and clinical response. Antihemophilic factor/factor VIII levels should be monitored, especially in patients requiring surgery.
