Vonoprazan
Voquezna (vonoprazan) is a potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB) used to treat conditions caused by excess stomach acid. It is prescribed for the healing and maintenance of erosive esophagitis (inflammation of the esophagus due to stomach acid) and is also used in combination with antibiotics to treat H. pylori infections. Unlike traditional acid-reducing medications, Voquezna works by directly blocking the final step of acid secretion in stomach cells, providing rapid and sustained acid control.
Voquezna is a novel acid-blocking medication used to treat erosive esophagitis and H. pylori infections by directly inhibiting stomach acid secretion.

Voquezna is FDA-approved for healing and maintaining healing of erosive esophagitis (EE), and in combination with antibiotics (amoxicillin and clarithromycin) for treating H. pylori infection in adults. It may also be used off-label for other conditions related to excess stomach acid.
Voquezna contains the active ingredient vonoprazan, which is a potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB). It works by reversibly blocking the potassium-binding site of the hydrogen-potassium ATPase enzyme (proton pump) in stomach cells, preventing the final step of acid secretion into the stomach lumen.
Voquezna may interact with certain medications, including rilpivirine and medications affected by stomach acid such as ketoconazole and digoxin. Common side effects may include headache, diarrhea, and upper respiratory infection. Patients with moderate to severe liver impairment should use Voquezna with caution. Always take as prescribed by your healthcare provider and inform them of all medications and supplements you are taking.
