Vosoritide
Vosoritide is a synthetic analog of C-type natriuretic peptide used for the treatment of achondroplasia, the most common form of dwarfism. It works by binding to natriuretic peptide receptor-B (NPR-B), which antagonizes the abnormal FGFR3 signaling that causes reduced bone growth in affected patients. This medication is specifically indicated for patients with achondroplasia who have open growth plates.
Vosoritide treats achondroplasia by counteracting the FGFR3 mutation that causes abnormal bone growth.

Treatment of achondroplasia in patients with open growth plates. Achondroplasia is a genetic skeletal disorder caused by a gain-of-function mutation in FGFR3 that results in impaired endochondral bone growth.
Vosoritide is a C-type natriuretic peptide analog that binds to and activates natriuretic peptide receptor-B (NPR-B). This activation antagonizes downstream signaling from the mutated FGFR3, thereby promoting cartilage growth and bone development at the growth plates.
Administered via subcutaneous injection. Treatment should be initiated and monitored by physicians experienced in managing skeletal dysplasia. Blood pressure monitoring is recommended during treatment as vosoritide may cause hypotension. Not indicated for other causes of short stature.
