Vutrisiran
Vutrisiran is a gene-silencing medication used to treat transthyretin-mediated (ATTR) amyloidosis, a rare condition where abnormal TTR protein forms amyloid deposits in the heart, nerves, and other tissues. By reducing the production of TTR protein, it helps prevent further accumulation of amyloid deposits and may improve symptoms in patients with hereditary ATTR polyneuropathy.
Vutrisiran is an RNA interference therapy that lowers TTR protein production to treat ATTR amyloidosis.

Mechanism of action
Pharmacodynamic mechanism
Treatment of hereditary transthyretin-mediated (hATTR) amyloidosis in adults with polyneuropathy, and also approved for ATTR amyloidosis with cardiomyopathy.
Vutrisiran is a double-stranded siRNA conjugated to GalNAc that specifically targets and degrades TTR mRNA, thereby reducing production of both mutant and wild-type TTR protein through RNA interference.
Administered as a subcutaneous injection every 3 months by a healthcare professional. Common side effects may include injection site reactions, arthralgia, and dyspnea. Patients should be monitored for reductions in serum vitamin A levels, as TTR carries retinol. Efficacy should be assessed periodically during treatment.
