Vyndaqel (tafamidis) is a prescription medication used to treat adults with transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM), either hereditary or wild-type. Vyndaqel is indicated for the treatment of transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM) in adults, including both hereditary forms caused by TTR gene mutations and wild-type ATTR-CM which occurs with aging without a known genetic cause. It helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular-related hospitalization and death.

Vyndaqel contains tafamidis, which binds to the transthyretin (TTR) protein and stabilizes its normal tetrameric structure. By preventing TTR from dissociating into monomers that misfold and aggregate, it reduces the formation of amyloid fibrils that deposit in the heart muscle and cause cardiomyopathy.

Vyndaqel is available in capsule form for oral administration. Common side effects may include fatigue, dizziness, or gastrointestinal symptoms. Patients should inform their doctor about all medications they are taking, as drug interactions may occur. Treatment should be initiated and monitored by physicians experienced in managing amyloidosis. The medication should not be discontinued without medical advice.
