Wal-Fex is used to treat seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever), perennial allergic rhinitis, and chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives). It effectively reduces symptoms including nasal congestion, sneezing, itching of the nose/throat/eyes, and skin rash or itching associated with allergic reactions.
Wal-Fex contains fexofenadine, which is a second-generation H1 receptor antagonist. It works by selectively blocking histamine H1 receptors in the body, preventing histamine from binding and triggering allergic symptoms. As a non-sedating antihistamine, it has reduced penetration across the blood-brain barrier compared to older antihistamines.
Wal-Fex is typically taken once or twice daily as directed. Avoid taking with fruit juices or antacids containing aluminum or magnesium, as they may reduce absorption. Consult a healthcare provider before use if you have kidney disease, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are taking other medications. Seek medical advice if symptoms do not improve or worsen after use.
