Omalizumab
Xolair (omalizumab) is a monoclonal antibody that targets and binds to immunoglobulin E (IgE) to reduce allergic inflammation. It is prescribed for adults and children with moderate to severe persistent allergic asthma, chronic spontaneous urticaria, and chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps who have not responded adequately to standard therapies.
Xolair is an injectable biologic medication that reduces allergic responses by blocking IgE, used primarily for severe allergic asthma and chronic urticaria.

Xolair is indicated for moderate to severe persistent allergic asthma in patients 6 years and older with documented IgE-mediated disease, chronic spontaneous urticaria in patients 12 years and older, and chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps in adults when standard therapies are insufficient.
Xolair is a humanized monoclonal antibody that binds specifically to circulating IgE antibodies, preventing them from binding to high-affinity IgE receptors on mast cells and basophils, thereby reducing the release of inflammatory mediators that trigger allergic reactions and asthma symptoms.
Xolair is administered by subcutaneous injection every 2 or 4 weeks and must be initiated and supervised by a healthcare provider experienced in treating allergic conditions. Patients should be monitored for anaphylaxis (typically within 2 hours of injection), and it is not indicated for acute bronchospasm or status asthmaticus. Treatment response may take several months to assess fully.
