Xyntha is indicated for the control and prevention of bleeding episodes in patients with hemophilia A (congenital factor VIII deficiency). It is also used for perioperative surgical prophylaxis and may be prescribed as routine prophylaxis to reduce bleeding frequency in some patients.
Xyntha contains recombinant antihemophilic factor (recombinant factor VIII) that directly replaces the deficient or missing clotting factor in hemophilia A patients. By restoring functional factor VIII levels, the medication enables the normal coagulation cascade to proceed, allowing the blood to clot effectively.
Xyntha is administered via intravenous injection. Patients should be monitored regularly for the development of factor VIII inhibitors (neutralizing antibodies) that can reduce treatment effectiveness. Allergic reactions are possible; discontinue use and seek medical attention if severe reactions occur. Treatment should be supervised by a physician experienced in hemophilia management.
