Xyosted is indicated for testosterone replacement therapy in adult males diagnosed with hypogonadism, including primary hypogonadism (testicular failure) and hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (pituitary/hypothalamic dysfunction). It is not indicated for use in women or pediatric patients.
Xyosted contains testosterone enanthate, an esterified androgen that works by supplementing endogenous testosterone levels. Once absorbed, testosterone binds to androgen receptors in target tissues to produce androgenic effects including development of male reproductive tissues, secondary sexual characteristics, and maintenance of muscle mass and bone density.
Xyosted is classified as a Schedule III controlled substance. It carries warnings regarding potential cardiovascular events, polycythemia, and prostate monitoring requirements. Blood parameter monitoring (hematocrit, PSA, testosterone levels) is required during treatment. The medication should not be used by patients with known prostate or breast cancer, pregnant individuals, or those with uncontrolled heart/kidney/liver disease.
