Erectile dysfunction (particularly of psychogenic origin), orthostatic hypotension, and occasionally used off-label for sexual dysfunction in women.

Yohimbine is a selective alpha-2 adrenergic receptor antagonist. By blocking these receptors, it increases sympathetic outflow, promotes vasodilation in certain vascular beds, and may enhance sexual arousal by increasing norepinephrine levels and reducing inhibitory signals in sexual response pathways.

Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, hypertension, or anxiety disorders due to its sympathomimetic effects. Common side effects include anxiety, insomnia, tachycardia, and hypertension. Should not be used in combination with certain antidepressants or in patients with renal impairment. Its effectiveness is considered modest and has largely been superseded by other treatments.
