Zimecterin is indicated for the treatment and control of internal parasites in horses, including large strongyles (Strongylus spp.), small strongyles, bots (Gasterophilus spp.), pinworms (Oxyuris equi), threadworms, and other susceptible parasites.
Zimecterin contains ivermectin as its active ingredient, which works by binding to glutamate-gated chloride channels in parasites, causing paralysis and death of the parasites.
Zimecterin is for oral use in horses only and must not be used in humans, other animal species, or in horses intended for food production. Some horse breeds, particularly those with the MDR1 gene mutation, may be more sensitive to ivermectin. Consult your veterinarian for proper dosing and to develop an appropriate deworming schedule.
