Zioptan is indicated for the reduction of elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension who are at risk for optic nerve damage and vision loss.

Zioptan contains tafluprost, a prostaglandin F2-alpha analog that increases uveoscleral outflow of aqueous humor, effectively lowering intraocular pressure when used as directed, typically once daily in the evening.

Common side effects include eye redness, stinging, itching, and darkening of iris or eyelid skin. Patients should remove contact lenses before use and wait 15 minutes before reinserting. Zioptan is for ophthalmic use only and should be used exactly as prescribed by a healthcare provider. Inform your doctor of any eye conditions, surgeries, or other medications before starting treatment.
