Results reported as organism identification (genus and species) or 'No growth' / 'No significant growth'. Interpretation is qualitative based on established microbiological criteria for pathogenic versus commensal flora.N/A
No special patient preparation required. Specimen collection should be performed prior to initiation of antimicrobial therapy whenever possible. Discontinuation of topical antimicrobial agents for 24–48 hours before specimen collection is recommended when applicable.
